CNC Lathe Set Up Machinist
Job Description
Elwood has an opportunity for an individual with machining skills and demonstrated CNC Lathe
experience. Candidates are expected to set up and run Mazak CNC lathes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Set up and operate Mazak CNC lathes following setup sheets and a machine schedule.
• Ability to identify/install tooling, select programs, and run/perform offsets.
• Perform tool/machine changeovers, assist with light equipment maintenance as needed.
• Load raw materials, unload finished products and maintain job/product traceability.
• Record finished product dimensions utilizing calibrated measuring equipment.
• Perform inspections to maintain quality standards.
• Troubleshoot machine issues and ensure smooth operation.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment and adheres to all safety standards,
procedures, and regulations.
• Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines are met and contribute to continuous
improvement.
Ideal candidate profile
• Required: High school diploma or equivalent, with 4-6 years of experience in relevant role
• Understanding of CNC lathe operations and familiarity with Mazatrol programming
• Extensive experience performing tool offsets and machine setup/tool changeovers
• Must be able to read blueprints, use precision measuring tools, and handle raw materials
• The ability to operate Mazak CNC Mills and manual lathes is a plus
• Math competency includes but is not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication,
division, geometry, trigonometry and algebra
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments including but not limited to micrometers, ID
and OD micrometers, height stands, depth gages, thread gages, and calipers
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Manual dexterity: Has ability to sit, stand, kneel, squat, and bend/twist at waist as required
to perform essential job functions
• Computer skills: familiarity with offline CNC programming software, experience with
Microsoft Excel
Job Type/Compensation
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
• Full-time
• First shift (8-hours)
• Ability to commute to Racine, WI 53404 or planning to relocate before starting work
(Required)
• Work Location: In person
