Overview & Responsibilities The Internal Bidding Process for USW is Closed To perform all of the required layout, machining, sub-assembly, part dimensional checking to verify conformance to drawings, sketches, etc. To set-up and operate various machines and equipment to produce parts and sub-assemblies. Some of them are as follows: Layout machines, vertical boring mills - manual and n/c controlled, horizontal boring mills, planer milling machines, measuring devices, hand tools, jib hoist, overhead crane, forklift trucks, pedestal tool grinders, deburring tools, fixtures, radial drill press and angular drill press, manual vertical boring mills, personal computer, etc. Receives instructions from supervision. Works from and interprets prints, drawings, work order books, makes sketches as required. Obtains drawings, tools, and fixtures from the tool crib. Obtains necessary material from stock. Lays out castings, forgings, plate fabrications, machined parts, etc. Lays out, marks, and center punches on material at proper dimensions for angles, radii, tapers, bolt circles, etc. Paints guidelines, dimension figures and instructions on material so that following operations may be performed accurately. Stencils or stamps part for identification. May be required to go into other areas for layout work. Sets up machines by installing and adjusting tools, clamps and fixtures, positions and aligns part and setting proper feeds and speeds. Inserts tape or operates machine manually as required. Presses proper buttons to initiate tape control cycle. Perform the required machining operations. Assembles and disassembles as required. Monitors required spindle speed. Verifies accuracy of micrometers as required. Checks part with measuring devices as required. Checks part to ensure that operation is completed. Completes data sheets as required. Deburrs all areas that were machined. Submits parts for inspection as required. Performs miscellaneous deburring operations simultaneously with machine operations as required. Uses grinding attachments as required. Grinds tools from blanks. Adjusts, changes and dresses tools as required. Operates tap disintegrator as required. Uses hoist and crane as required. Uses forklift truck to obtain and move materials as required. Performs crane hooking and unhooking as required. Works from ladders and scaffolds. Lubricates machine as required, wipes and oils machine ways, and keeps machine, tools, and work area clean. Performs routine preventive maintenance on machines. Maintains good housekeeping by keeping tools, material and equipment in proper place and work area organized. Reports defective material and equipment to supervision. Observes all safety rules. Reports production count, time and identifying data as required. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able and willing to work 1st (7am-3pm), 2nd (3pm-11pm) and 3rd (11pm-7am) shifts. Shifts are not guaranteed and are subject to shift realignment. Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays.
