We are seeking an experienced Environmental Air Compliance Specialist to join a large-scale industrial manufacturing operation. This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional who is passionate about regulatory compliance, emissions management, and continuous improvement within a complex processing environment.
In this highly visible role, you will serve as the subject matter expert for air compliance programs, working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, and Reliability teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations while supporting safe and efficient plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the site's Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) program, including daily QA/QC activities and regulatory reporting.
- Oversee stack testing programs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and performance standards.
- Act as the primary environmental representative during regulatory inspections and agency information requests.
- Provide technical guidance and environmental compliance support to Operations, Maintenance, and Instrumentation & Electrical teams.
- Develop and deliver environmental compliance training programs for plant personnel.
- Prepare emissions inventories, calculations, and regulatory reports.
- Support air permit applications, modifications, and renewals.
- Participate in incident investigations and drive corrective actions related to environmental compliance.
- Review Management of Change (MOC) documentation and environmental risk assessments.
- Support emergency response activities as part of the site's incident response team.
- Participate in an on-call rotation (approximately one weekend per month).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of air quality compliance experience within a refinery, petrochemical, chemical manufacturing, or other heavy industrial processing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and Continuous Parameter Monitoring Systems (CPMS).
- Experience with federal air quality regulations and permitting programs.
- Familiarity with emissions calculations, environmental reporting, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Experience supporting environmental audits and agency inspections is highly desirable.
Preferred Experience
Experience with one or more of the following is considered a strong advantage:
- Title V Air Permits
- Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD)
- New Source Performance Standards (NSPS)
- National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP)
- Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) standards
- Industrial emissions monitoring and compliance programs
