Transportation Construction Inspector

Purpose
Conduct bridge and highway inspections to ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
- Perform tasks under moderate supervision, receiving guidance on moderately complex assignments. Work is regularly reviewed by senior staff to ensure adherence to sound techniques and principles.
Operational and Client Engagement
- Collaborate with project managers to communicate significant findings from inspections.
Project Execution
- Conduct inspections for transportation construction projects to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Accurately document project assignments.
- Prepare inspection and contractor performance reports for project records as needed.
- Maintain organized project documents and files.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience with the Department of Transportation (DOT) as a Technical Assistant 2 (TA-2) or higher; or at least two (2) years of experience in transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection; or a minimum of four (4) years in highway or bridge construction, non-highway or bridge inspection, or highway or bridge design.
- NICET certification is a plus.
- DOT Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification is a plus.
- NECEPT Bituminous Field Certification is a plus.
- Valid state driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle check, or reliable transportation to and from the office and project sites is strongly preferred.
Salary : $60,000 - $85,000
