Purpose

Conduct bridge and highway inspections to ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

• Perform tasks under moderate supervision, receiving guidance on moderately complex assignments. Work is regularly reviewed by senior staff to ensure adherence to sound techniques and principles.

Operational and Client Engagement

• Collaborate with project managers to communicate significant findings from inspections.

Project Execution

• Conduct inspections for transportation construction projects to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes and regulations.
• Accurately document project assignments.
• Prepare inspection and contractor performance reports for project records as needed.
• Maintain organized project documents and files.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience with the Department of Transportation (DOT) as a Technical Assistant 2 (TA-2) or higher; or at least two (2) years of experience in transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection; or a minimum of four (4) years in highway or bridge construction, non-highway or bridge inspection, or highway or bridge design.
• NICET certification is a plus.
• DOT Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification is a plus.
• NECEPT Bituminous Field Certification is a plus.
• Valid state driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle check, or reliable transportation to and from the office and project sites is strongly preferred.
