Job Summary
The Construction & Maintenance Technician performs repairs, routine maintenance, and construction work supporting public infrastructure, including facilities, parks, utilities, roads, and public spaces. This role requires physical activity, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Perform construction, maintenance, and repair work on public buildings, facilities, roads, and grounds
Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and light/heavy equipment
Assist with installation and repair of signage, utilities, and public safety structures
Conduct routine inspections of village property to identify maintenance needs
Perform seasonal duties including snow removal, lawn care, and cleanup
Follow all safety procedures and municipal standards
Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies when needed
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
Qualifications Required:
Prior experience in construction, maintenance, facility operations, or related field
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions
Strong knowledge of tools, equipment, and safety practices
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
Valid driver's license
Preferred:
Experience with municipal/public works maintenance
Certifications in equipment operation or safety training
Carpentry, plumbing, or electrical experience
Salary Range
$18-$33 per hour, depending on experience and certifications.
