Operations Manager

Position Overview

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading the daily execution of Elite Waste’s street sweeping and waste‑handling services with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, fleet readiness, and customer satisfaction. This role oversees all field operations, including driver management, routing, equipment maintenance, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The successful candidate will drive both short‑ and long‑term operational strategies that support profitable growth, superior service delivery, and environmental stewardship. The candidate must also possess strong leadership qualities and be able to maintain operations with minimal guidance.

This position supports a diverse fleet including street sweepers, roll-off trucks, vacuum trucks, and dump trucks, ensuring all equipment and personnel are prepared for daily and nightly operations.

Key Responsibilities

Sweeping & Waste Operations

• Oversee daily dispatch and routing for sweeping, rolloff, vacuum, and dump truck operations to ensure timely, cost‑effective, and compliant service delivery.
• Lead and develop drivers, technicians, and support staff; ensure adherence to SOPs and performance expectations.
• Maintain readiness of sweepers, rolloff trucks, vacuum trucks, dump trucks, and all municipal service equipment.
• Coordinate with mechanics and fleet personnel to review defects, maintenance needs, and out‑of‑service units.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of all pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections.
• Approve equipment release only when safe, compliant, and appropriate for severity of use.
• Maintain preventive maintenance schedules based on mileage, hours, and operational demand.

Fleet Oversight

• Manage and optimize fleet operations, including equipment availability, repair coordination, and preventive maintenance.
• Monitor fleet performance, downtime, and utilization to support operational efficiency.
• Ensure all equipment meets Elite Waste’s safety and compliance standards.

Night Operations Coordination

• Maintain daily communication with the Night Manager to ensure the night crew has all required equipment, vehicles, materials, and instructions for successful overnight operations.
• Confirm that all trucks scheduled for night work are fueled, inspected, stocked, and ready for deployment.
• Address any last‑minute equipment or staffing issues before the night shift begins.
• If a night‑shift driver calls in, the Operations Manager may be required to step in and drive a sweeper, dump truck or lead truck to ensure service continuity.

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce Elite Waste’s SOP Policy, including STOP‑WORK AUTHORITY, fatigue management, and safety reporting.
• Conduct field audits, route observations, and operator coaching.
• Respond to incidents, near misses, and property damage events; preserve evidence and complete required documentation.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, municipal regulations, and environmental standards.
• Lead safety briefings, corrective actions, and follow‑up training.

Leadership & Supervision

• Supervise operators, crew leads, and field personnel with a focus on accountability and professionalism.
• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action when necessary.
• Maintain attendance records, timekeeping accuracy, and shift documentation.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new operators.

Customer & Community Relations

• Ensure Elite Waste meets or exceeds contract expectations for quality, timeliness, and documentation.
• Address customer concerns promptly and professionally.
• Represent Elite Waste in municipal meetings, project reviews, and community initiatives.

Requirements

• Must have a background in the trucking industry.
• Must hold a valid CDL.
• Experience with heavy‑duty equipment such as sweepers, rolloff trucks, vacuum trucks, and dump trucks preferred.
• Strong leadership experience in transportation, logistics, or environmental services.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and municipal sweeping standards.
• Ability to work early mornings, nights, or weekends as municipal schedules require.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
