Tree Service Groundsman

Key responsibilities of a groundsman at Elise Tree Service:

• Debris removal: Clearing branches, limbs, and wood debris from the tree and hauling them to the designated area, usually the truck.
• Equipment operation: Operating ground-based equipment like chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, mini skidsteers, and other power tools as needed.
• Rope handling: Assisting the climber by managing ropes used for lowering branches and securing the work area.
• Site preparation: Setting up safety zones, clearing obstacles, and preparing the work area for the climbing crew.
• Clean-up: Removing debris from the job site after tree work is completed.
• Communication: Maintaining clear communication with the climber to ensure safe and coordinated operations.
• Safety compliance: Adhering to all safety guidelines, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), and reporting any hazards.

Skills and qualifications for a tree service groundsman:

• Physical fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
• Hand-eye coordination: Precise control when operating power tools and handling ropes.
• Basic tree knowledge: Understanding of tree anatomy, growth patterns, and potential hazards.
