What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Quality Assurance Technician - Food Manufacturing position at Elevation Foods?
Position summary:
The Quality Assurance Technician Level 2 is responsible for all assigned Quality Assurance-related tasks as outlined herein. All elevation Foods Quality Assurance departmental responsibilities must be fulfilled in a manner that places extreme emphasis on Elevation Foods - Food Safety and Food Quality Programs in place. This role will report to either the Quality Assurance Supervisor or directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Primary responsibilities:
- Performing Pre-Operational Inspections of assigned areas of the Elevation Foods facility to ensure areas can be released for the scheduled days’ operational activities.
- Performing continuous monitoring of assigned areas of the Elevation Foods facility to ensure all applicable GMPs/SOPs and all other applicable procedures are being followed by Elevation Foods personnel.
- Performs HACCP and HARPC monitoring verifications.
- Performs SSOP verifications
- Performs and records assigned Product Quality Checks
- Observes applicable Elevation Foods employee practices while looking for potential ingredient and finished product contamination possibilities.
- Performs periodic audits for proper storage of allergen containing ingredients
- Responsible for equipment swabbing and testing protocol as directed
- Responsible for Titrate Sanitizer Solution accuracy and efficacy
- Manages Label Verification hourly during scheduled work shift for QCP and HACCP purposes
- Attends Daily Sensory Panels conducted during scheduled work shift
- Controls Ingredients and/or finished Goods on HOLD during scheduled work shift
- Performs production finished good and/or packaging label changeovers
- Oversees assigned production rework activities during scheduled shift
- Apply knowledge and understanding of Quality Assurance Technician Level 1 requirements and job specific duties
- Develop and exhibit a clear understanding of Elevation Foods - Food Safety and Food Quality and the differences/similarities of each
- Apply knowledge gained from Finished Product Sensory Evaluations to accurately and efficiently lead Sensory Meetings
- Use analytical Thinking and Problem-Solving skills to assist applicable departmental personnel in resolving issues related to Food Quality and Food Safety
- Identify gaps in production and packaging processes, notify QA Management and Production Management and assist in resolving the issue
- Understand and apply SQF Level 2 Principles
- Manage the flow of applicable QA related documentation on the production and packaging floor during scheduled work shift
- Assist as needed in Root Cause and Corrective Action Investigations
- Write HOLD Program Tags and document the disposition of ingredients/finished Goods on HOLD
- Maintain swabbing schedule as assigned
- Maintain Allergen Validation as assigned
- Responsible for the attending all assigned QA Training Sessions as well as gaining the knowledge needed to successfully succeed in this role
- Works as a team with production and packaging personnel to achieve excellence in producing safe, wholesome foods
- Pull, Label and Organize finished product samples for Shelf-Life Evaluations and Monitoring
- Apply the acquired Analytical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills needed to resolve applicable issues if/when they arise
- Perform and document in a timely manner, all assigned QA Technician checks to include: Loose Hair/Proper Use of Hair Nets, Sanitizer Titration, Ingredient and Finished Product Quality, Date Coding and Labeling Efficiency, Metal Detector Operation
- Assists in shift related Non-Conformance Investigations
- Aids in mitigating Food Safety Issues and Quality Issues with Production Manager or Production Supervisor
- Communicates appropriately and effectively with all applicable Elevation Foods departmental personnel
- Acquires a working knowledge of all Elevation Foods finished products to successfully accomplish all applicable in-place checks and controls during a scheduled work shift
- Assists Production Shift Supervisors and applicable personnel with finished product quality related issues to maintain finished product consistency
- Works in conjunction with all Quality Assurance Personnel to establish the company direction for Food Safety, Food Quality and Food Defense Programs
- May be required to travel to testing lab to deliver samples as needed/when needed
- Obtains and disseminates learned knowledge from departmental webinars, web classes, seminars for the Ready to Eat Foods industry
- May titrate and document sanitizer protocol
- Works as a team with Elevation Foods Production and Packaging shift supervisors in an effort to troubleshoot and problem solve
