Position summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for defining, directing, organizing, and implementing Production Processes and related Procedures to produce the highest quality products for Elevation Foods and its Customers.
All Production Manager Responsibilities must be fulfilled in a manner that places extreme emphasis on Food Safety and Food Quality. This role reports to the Plant Manager of assigned facility.
Primary responsibilities:
- Production Processes and Procedures to ensure their optimal efficiency and functionality
- Make Decisions, Problem Solve – Analyzing all applicable/available information to evaluate results and choose the best solution to solve problems
- Communication skills are key in providing information to Supervisors, Peers and Subordinates by electronic means, email, telephone, written form or in-person
- Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems
- Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory and staffing requirements while considering time restraints
- Responsible for managing the staffing and hiring needs as well as promoting qualified Production (and related) Departmental Personnel while complying with the Elevation Foods Employee Policies Handbook and applicable internal policies
- Resolve conflicts and negotiate with Production Personnel (and any other applicable personnel) per the Elevation Foods Employee Policies Handbook (and other applicable internal and external procedures) in order to effectively: Handle Complaints, Settle Disputes, Resolve Grievances and Conflicts as they arise
- Work in conjunction with the P&C Manager on Production personnel disciplinary procedures per the Elevation Foods Employee Policies Handbook and other applicable internal policies
- Responsible for implementing and managing Employee Performance Reviews per the Elevation Foods Employee Policies Handbook for Production personnel – In conjunction with the Plant Manager and P&C Manager.
- Responsible for managing production personnel - vacation and leave requests
- Develop or implement production tracking to analyze production efficiency, maintenance, operational reports to detect production related issues and corrective actions as needed
- Establish and Maintain Interpersonal Relationships – Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with the Plant Manager and all applicable Department Heads and their staff to coordinate policies and procedures to allow for the most effective overall operation of the Elevation Foods facilities
- Work closely with the Maintenance Manager and staff to ensure optimal performance of equipment operation within the production facilities including inspection, troubleshooting, down time, modifications and/or replacement of machinery
- Work with Production Management and Supervisory personnel to plan, set goals, monitor standards, trouble shoot problems, while working toward better efficiency of department and equipment
- Guide, coach, counsel, motivate and advise the Production Management / Supervisory Team and its subordinates to build cooperation and cohesiveness throughout the Production Department including its processes and procedures
- Organize, plan and prioritize work – Developing specific personal goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish the work at hand
- Update and utilize relevant knowledge – Keeping up-to-date technically and applying the new knowledge to your job
- Work with Production Supervisory Team to schedule production related work activities and personnel – Getting members of the team to work together to accomplish set goals for the department
- Coaching and developing others – Identifying the developmental needs of production personnel and coaching, mentoring, and otherwise helping them to improve their knowledge and skills
- Interacting with computers – using computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, set up functions, enter data, and process information for the Production Department
- Develop and build teams – encouraging and building mutual trust, respect and cooperation between Team Members
- Constantly monitoring production related processes and procedures – reviewing information from events, issues, flow of process to detect or assess problems
- Plans, drafts and lays out room diagrams to properly fit in and utilize production equipment and machinery
- Communicate with outside agencies/organizations while representing Elevation Foods to customers, the public, government, and other regulatory personnel.
- Manage the documentation/recording process – oversees entering, transcribing, recording, storing, and maintaining applicable production information in written or electronic form
- Works with all applicable Elevation Foods departmental staff to effectively implement Food Safety, Food Quality and Food Defense Programs for the company
- Manages production policies and procedures with Production Supervisors
- Assists in Food Safety training for Elevation Foods production personnel
- Ensures that all production personnel follow all applicable HACCP/SQF/USDA/FDA and Elevation Foods SSOP/GMP and Food Safety policies.
