Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Job Title: Buyer 

Location: Fairport, New York, 14450

Duration-12 months (possible extension)

Pay- $30.35hr.

Shift -Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with flexibility for a 7:00 AM or 8:30 AM start

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of Global Supply Management (GSM) strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Manage purchasing activities, including placing purchase orders, sourcing materials, and coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms to achieve cost savings and improve supplier performance.
• Develop, review, and maintain contractual documents, including supply agreements, pricing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and certificates of insurance.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships and support supplier audits and performance reviews.
• Use SAP and MRP systems to support purchasing, materials planning, and supply chain activities.
• Monitor supplier quality, delivery performance, pricing, and other key performance metrics.
• Assist with commodity reviews, market intelligence, and cost analysis.
• Support inventory management by minimizing excess, slow-moving, and obsolete materials while ensuring adequate supply.
• Coordinate with manufacturing plants, quality teams, engineering, planning, and other cross-functional departments.
• Resolve invoicing discrepancies and purchasing-related issues promptly.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and purchasing process simplification.
• Ensure compliance with Global Buying Policies, internal controls, applicable laws, and ethical purchasing standards.
• Support environmental compliance, proper scrap disposal, and intellectual property protection.
• Maintain accurate purchasing documentation and support internal and external audits.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of experience as a plant buyer or corporate buyer.
• Hands-on purchasing experience, including purchase order creation and processing, supplier communication, and stakeholder coordination.
• Experience using SAP in a purchasing or supply chain environment.
• Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and inventory management processes.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment or supporting manufacturing operations.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
• Strong negotiation, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of supplier management, contract administration, and cost analysis.
• Ability to work onsite in Fairport, NY.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in a technical or related field.
• Experience with Global Supply Management (GSM) processes and systems.
• Experience supporting multiple business units, divisions, or technologies.
• Exposure to global manufacturing and international supply chain operations.
• Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification.
• Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), APICS, or other relevant supply chain certification.
