Aerospace Precision CNC Milling Specialist

Location: Southwick, MA

Employment: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Shift: 2nd Shift, Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM–12:00 AM

Compensation: $30.00–$40.00 per hour, commensurate with experience

At 3:30 PM, you step onto a spotless shop floor dedicated to aerospace-grade quality. You review the day’s operation sheets, confirm tooling, and load programs. Your first task: dial in a setup on a CNC VMC, verify offsets, and run a first-article to AS9100 and ISO 9001 expectations. Micrometers, calipers, and indicators confirm every critical dimension before the run begins.

As the evening progresses, you may monitor more than one CNC milling center, keeping a close eye on tool wear, adjusting feeds and speeds, and recording in-process checks. When a tolerance drifts, you troubleshoot—whether it’s tool selection, workholding, or offsets—so production stays on track. Throughout the shift, you update production and inspection documentation and keep your area 6S-organized. Near midnight, you complete final inspections, perform light preventive maintenance, and leave machines staged for the morning team.

• Set up and operate CNC milling machines (3-, 4-, and 5-axis VMCs).
• Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and operation sheets to produce precision aerospace components.
• Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other precision tools.
• Set tooling, apply/adjust work and tool offsets, and fine-tune machine parameters.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues to uphold quality and throughput.
• Operate multiple CNC mills when needed to meet schedule and quality requirements.
• Accurately complete production, quality, and inspection records.
• Perform routine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Adhere to AS9100, ISO 9001, safety, and 6S practices.

• 3 years of hands-on CNC milling experience, including complete setups.
• Proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Skilled with precision metrology (micrometers, calipers, indicators).
• Solid understanding of tooling, speeds/feeds, and machining best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to set tooling and enter machine offsets.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Self-directed and effective with minimal supervision.

• Background in aerospace manufacturing.
• Experience on 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC milling equipment.
• Technical school training, apprenticeship, or machining certification.

• $30.00–$40.00 per hour, DOE.
