Core Work Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday
Travel: Required; approximately 5-10%
Flexible Work Arrangements: Work from home up to 3 days per week
Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000 per year with an annual bonus of up to 9% of salary
Position Summary
EME is seeking a motivated and skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an established Mechanical Engineer with four (4) to eight (8) years of experience who possesses a passion for engineering design and analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing new and existing component design and analysis using classical methods as well as finite element analysis (FEA) software and leading small to medium complexity engineering analysis projects. You must also be comfortable interacting directly with customers and collaborating with EME’s technical staff.
Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Analysis
- · Use classic and finite element methods for structural, natural frequency, and ventilation/thermal analysis.
- Design of new and upgraded generator and motor components and associated auxiliaries.
- Failure analysis of rotating equipment.
- Reverse engineering of existing components.
- Analyze vibration data to troubleshoot machine vibration. Perform field vibration testing and use field acquired data to calibrate classic and finite element vibration models, use these models to simulate repairs and modifications to correct vibration problems and design solutions.
- Creation of solid models suitable for FEA analysis and manufacturing drawing creation.
- Lead engineering projects by developing quality assurance documentation, project plans and by providing input to costing and schedules and resolving technical issues.
- Develop technical specifications and work with vendors to solicit quotations.
- Write formal technical reports.
- · Interface with shop personnel and vendors to ensure products are manufactured in accordance with drawings and specifications.
- Perform field inspections and testing to provide input to analyses and designs or to commission new designs.

Qualifications
· Required
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Four (4) to eight (8) years’ experience in engineering, construction or related fields performing design and analysis with specific experience in:
- Structural analysis, classically and via finite element analysis
- Vibration testing and analysis
- Thermal and ventilation analysis
- Existing equipment condition assessments
- Demonstrated experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and 3D modeling software (e.g., ANSYS, Solidworks).
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics principles, including statics, dynamics, and mechanics of materials.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam or a willingness to do so within the first year of employment.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license, non-restricted passport, and reliable transportation.

- Experience in the Power industry.
- Ability to understand and apply programming concepts.
· Physical
- Able to walk, push, pull, reach, grasp, twist, bend and climb including at heights of over six feet.
- Capable of standing for length of shift.
- Keen sight, peripheral vision, and hearing.
