Shipping & Receiving Lead-
The Shipping & Receiving Lead oversees and assists with daily operations for both the Shipping and Receiving departments. This includes receiving incoming shipments, preparing outgoing shipments, and ensuring all company procedures and deadlines are met.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Shipping department and ensure all jobs on the daily ship list are packaged and ready to ship before the end of the day.
- Oversee the Receiving department and ensure all incoming shipments are received within 24 hours of arrival.
- Generate packing lists and corresponding shipment documentation for all outgoing products.
- Schedule LTL shipments of outgoing orders via phone or web-based applications.
- Report any non-conforming conditions to the Operations Manager.
- Train new hires within the Shipping or Receiving departments and provide coverage as needed.
- Coordinate with Quality Control and organize shipping and receiving clerks to meet deadlines for both departments.
- Address any shipping or receiving count discrepancies, missing P.O.s, packing issues, or other challenges that may arise.
- Determine root cause and corrective actions for customer complaints related to Shipping or Receiving.
- Create or revise documentation of work procedures as needed.
- Perform inventory counts and restocking of packing materials, first aid supplies, and masking materials such as tapes, gomitas, and thermo-plastics.
- Maintain daily organization and cleanliness of shipping and receiving areas.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
Training Provided
The Shipping & Receiving Lead will be trained in:
- Safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with this position.
- Federal “Right to Know” regulations.
- The Quality Policy statement and its intent.
- Forklift operator certification.
- Work Procedures as specified in the QMS Training Matrix.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- 100% of daily ship list completed by end of shift.
- All receipts processed within 24 hours of arrival.
- Zero late or mis-shipped orders.
- Accurate and complete shipping documentation.
Education, Knowledge, and Skills
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Supervisory experience in a warehouse or similar environment.
- Experience creating shipments using FEDEX, UPS, and DHL web-based platforms.
- Experience with U.S. Customs requirements is a plus.
- Basic computer skills (Windows, UPS, FEDEX, DHL).
Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing and metal-finishing environment. The role routinely uses forklifts, pallet jacks, and standard shipping equipment. PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection may be required.
Position Type & Schedule
Full-time position
Monday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Friday, 7:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (Overtime as needed to meet shipping deadlines, you must be reasonably flexible)
