Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing Services to lead our nursing team and uphold the highest standards of resident care. The ideal candidate will possess extensive nursing management experience within assisted living, nursing homes, or home health settings. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of nursing administration, regulatory compliance, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure optimal resident outcomes and staff development. The ideal candidate will ensure high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and effective staff management while fostering a supportive and respectful environment for residents, families, and employees.
Duties
- Oversee all nursing operations, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, including Medicare and HIPAA requirements.
- Develop, implement, and monitor care plans tailored to residents’ individual needs, ensuring quality and safety standards are met consistently.
- Supervise nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, med techs, and aides; provide leadership, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
- Manage staffing schedules across shifts to ensure adequate coverage while maintaining efficient resource utilization.
- Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary team efforts to optimize resident care delivery in various settings such as assisted living, home health, hospice care, and acute care environments.
- Oversee the implementation and utilization of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR (Electronic Health Records) for accurate documentation review and reporting.
- Ensure staff training on medical terminology, physiology, anatomy knowledge, HIPAA regulations, and best practices in nurse management.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on resident safety, care excellence, and regulatory adherence.
Experience
- Proven DON, or at least a lengthy ADON management experience within nursing homes; supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is essential.
- Extensive background in nursing administration with familiarity in shift management and nurse management strategies.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and documentation review processes.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for medical records management is required.
- Knowledge of Medicare regulations and reimbursement processes related to long-term care services.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to foster a positive team environment while maintaining high standards of care delivery.
