Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activity Coordinator to develop and implement engaging recreational programs for our residents. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in event planning, senior care, and therapeutic activities, with a focus on enhancing social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. Duties
- Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including memory care and dementia-specific programs.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to assess individual needs and develop personalized activity plans.
- Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic activities that promote socialization and community engagement.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed to foster independence and comfort.
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure a balanced program that accommodates residents’ routines and preferences.
- Monitor residents’ participation and provide feedback to enhance program effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation, and progress notes for documentation purposes.
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or long-term care settings.
- Strong knowledge of aging issues, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and recreational therapy techniques.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with residents, families, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to work compassionately with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments.
- Skilled in assisting residents with ADLs while promoting independence.
- Effective schedule management skills to coordinate multiple activities seamlessly.
- Background in social work or caregiving related fields is highly desirable for understanding resident needs and counseling on aging issues.
