About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager, Architecture to lead the design implementation and construction coordination of our high-end residential interior design projects. This role is responsible for producing design intent documentation, reviewing and coordinating architectural, construction, and shop drawings prepared by others, and ensuring that approved design intent is successfully implemented across all active projects. Our studio is not an architecture firm and does not produce stamped architectural or permit drawings. The Senior Project Manager, Architecture, works closely with the Design Director and Senior Designers and plays an active role in client communication, helping present, explain, and coordinate construction-related aspects of each project.
Key Responsibilities
Design Intent Documentation
- Produce and oversee design intent drawings, including interior layouts, elevations, and millwork intent drawings.
- Ensure design intent documentation clearly communicates scope, dimensions, materials, and finishes for coordination with architects, contractors, and fabricators.
- Maintain consistency, accuracy, and quality across all design intent deliverables.
Drawing Review & Coordination
- Review architectural, construction, and consultant drawings for alignment with approved design intent.
- Review and coordinate shop drawings, submittals, and material samples, identifying discrepancies, conflicts, or design impacts.
- Communicate drawing comments and design clarifications to architects, contractors, and fabricators in collaboration with the Design Director and Senior Designers.
- Track drawing revisions, approvals, and coordination milestones across multiple projects.
Construction & Fabrication Coordination
- Serve as a primary point of contact for contractors, fabricators, and consultants during construction and fabrication phases.
- Manage and track construction timelines and sequencing across all active projects.
- Respond to RFIs and field questions related to design intent, in coordination with the Design Director.
- Attend construction meetings and conduct site visits as needed to review progress and ensure design intent is being executed correctly.
Client Communication
- Participate in client meetings alongside the Design Director and Senior Designers to present and clarify design intent, construction coordination, and implementation details.
- Help guide clients through construction-related decisions and explain technical information in a clear, accessible way.
- Communicate schedule updates, coordination issues, and design clarifications to clients with professionalism and confidence.
Project Oversight & Quality Control
- Track progress across all active projects and proactively flag risks related to schedule, coordination, or constructability.
- Ensure a high level of quality and consistency in design implementation across projects.
- Maintain organized project documentation, drawing logs, and construction records.
- Escalate issues or deviations from design intent to leadership in a timely manner
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field.
- 6–10 years of experience in high-end residential or hospitality interior design, design implementation, or construction coordination.
- Strong experience producing design intent and millwork intent drawings.
- Extensive experience reviewing architectural, construction, and shop drawings.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Rhino, Revit, or similar tools is a plus.
- Strong understanding of custom millwork, fabrication, and residential construction processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to clients.
