Job Overview
The Township Clerk provides administrative and clerical support to the Township Clerk’s Office. Working closely with the Township Clerk, Deputy Township Clerk, and Clerk II, this position helps ensure the office runs smoothly and that the public receives timely, accurate assistance. As one of the first points of contact for residents and visitors, the Township Clerk plays an important role in delivering professional and courteous service on behalf of the Township.
Responsibilities
This full-time position provides clerical support for all tasks and responsibilities assigned to the Township Clerk by state law and local ordinance. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Create, format, and proof correspondence, forms, and reports (Word and Adobe); maintain spreadsheets and simple data logs (Excel).
- File, scan, copy, and index documents; process incoming/outgoing mail.
- Answer and route phone calls; greet/assist the public and professionals.
- Intake and basic receipting of applications/permitting
- Maintain organized paper and electronic records consistent with retention rules.
Position Requirements
- Good moral character and strong customer-service skills.
- Working knowledge of (or interest in learning) local government functions and the Township Code.
- Willingness to learn basics of elections administration and archives/records management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); accurate keyboarding and filing.
- Professional phone etiquette; ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently with attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn Edmunds municipal finance software.
- Ability to work several evenings during the year (e.g., Primary & General Elections), if needed, and one Saturday in spring for the annual Free Rabies Clinic.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Strong organizational background preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Pay: $16.58 - $18.44 per hour
