Salary: $57,855-$104,901 (based on the current bargaining agreement)
Terms of Employment: 1.0 FTE; Monday-Thursday 8:00-4:30 & Friday 7:30-11:00
Description:
The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) English Language Arts Teacher will be responsible for teaching English Language Arts courses to students at the EOC. Courses may be direct instruction or direct support for students working independently. This position will also support students in their graduation pathway options. May be asked to teach subjects outside of ELA, as needed.
The Clarkston Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) works with youth, ages 14-21. We take a whole-person approach to education and understand the difficulties students often face. The EOC staff advocates on behalf of each student, works with other schools, collaborates with community partners, and connects with services such as counseling, housing, food, transportation, and social-emotional support. We go above and beyond to help students manage any challenges they may be facing.

Per Bargaining Agreement/Placement on State Cert Salary Schedule
Education/Certification:
- Must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
- Valid Washington State Teacher’s Certificate with Secondary English Language Arts Endorsement
- Advanced training and course work in English Language Arts. Training in the use of appropriate technology in the teaching of English Language Arts.
- Successful Washington State Patrol check and FBI Fingerprint Clearance Report and Disclosure Statement in accordance with state law

- Ability to provide positive classroom management with students who demonstrate behavioral challenges.
- Ability to motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with an emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles.
- Ability to manage work experience opportunities for youth, and young adults 14-21 years old; tracking hours, conducting work evaluations with employers, and issuing grades.
- Ability to work proactively with all students through the establishment of clear expectations, the use of negotiations and compromise, and the maintenance of regular parent/staff communication regarding progress and behavior.
- Ability to motivate reluctant learners ranging from 14-21 years old.
- Ability to teach in a direct instruction environment or direct support to independent learners in a variety of English Language Arts subjects.
