Position Summary
The Creative Manager is responsible for leading The Edit’s design and content teams with an operational-first quality driven mindset. This person ensures that creative excellence is supported by structure, clarity, and efficiency; overseeing workflows, resourcing, and delivery standards while keeping the bar high on creative output.
Equal parts people manager and creative leader, this role drives accountability across the creative department, builds repeatable systems for scale, and ensures the team is empowered to deliver best-in-class work on time and on budget. They collaborate with Account Directors, Producers, and Founders to align creative vision with client objectives, all while fostering a culture of growth, feedback, and operational excellence.
This role requires someone who is highly organized, detail-obsessed, and proactive, but also able to inspire fresh ideas and bring a creative point of view when needed. They will manage the day-to-day operations of the creative pod while steering the team toward long-term success, as well as maintaining the quality of the work output.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the creative team (designers, content creators, editors).
- Own resourcing and workload allocation, ensuring projects are staffed appropriately and deadlines are met.
- Build and enforce operational processes for creative reviews, shoot planning, asset delivery, and feedback cycles.
- Conduct weekly team meetings focused on priorities, process improvements, and professional development.
- Deliver structured feedback, quarterly reviews, and growth plans for each direct report.
- Partner with Producers and Account Managers to ensure scope, timelines, and budgets are respected.
- Ensure work is delivered on time and budget, problem solving if issues arise.
Creative Oversight & Direction
- Oversee quality and consistency of all creative output, ensuring alignment with client brand guidelines and performance goals.
- Review and approve shot lists, moodboards, and creative concepts with an operational lens (budget, feasibility, timing).
- Provide directional feedback that sharpens creative while maintaining efficiency.
- Ensure all creative touchpoints for The Edit’s internal brand (website, decks, marketing collateral) meet elevated standards.
- Play an active role in new business pitches and campaign development to grow existing client accounts.
Client Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead creative onboarding for new clients, balancing creative ambition with operational feasibility.
- Manage client expectations on timelines, deliverables, and revision processes.
- Partner with Accounts to proactively identify opportunities for creative and operational improvements.
- Present creative reviews and process updates to clients with authority and clarity.
Business Growth & Internal Elevation
- Conduct regular audits of creative workflows and implement efficiency improvements.
- Track and report on creative team KPIs, highlighting wins, challenges, and resource needs to founders.
- Champion cross-department collaboration to improve workflows between Accounts, Partnerships, and Production.
- Contribute to pitches and proactive concepts with an operationally sound execution plan.
Experience
- 4 years of experience in a creative agency, production studio, or in-house creative department.
- Proven track record managing creative teams (designers, editors, content creators) and delivering content at scale.
- Strong background in creative operations: workflow management, resourcing, timelines, and process implementation.
- Hands-on experience overseeing shoots, creative reviews, and asset delivery.
- Client-facing experience, with the ability to present work, manage expectations, and maintain strong relationships.
Skills
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills: thrives on structure, timelines, and clear systems.
- Strong leadership and communication skills; able to motivate, mentor, and hold a team accountable.
- Adept at balancing creative vision with operational feasibility (budget, scope, timing).
- High level of attention to detail, ensuring deliverables meet both creative standards and operational requirements.
- Comfort with analytics and reporting to track creative performance and operational KPIs.
- Proficiency in creative/production tools and platforms (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, project management software like Wrike/Asana, etc.).
- Operationally minded first, with a strong creative instinct.
- Solutions-first thinker; calm under pressure and proactive with problem-solving.
- Adaptable and flexible in fast-moving environments with shifting priorities.
- Strategic yet executional. Equally comfortable planning systems and rolling up sleeves to QC content.
- Passionate about elevating both team performance and creative standards.
