Senior HMI & Controls Engineer

Edison Smart are hiring on behalf of our client for a Senior HMI & Controls Engineer to lead the development of next-generation industrial control systems. This role will take full ownership of HMI architecture, design, and deployment—managing the entire lifecycle from concept through to field commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead HMI development projects through initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery.
• Define scalable system architecture, communication protocols, and user interface standards for complex automation systems.
• Develop detailed technical documentation including specifications, test procedures, commissioning guides, and training materials.
• Oversee quality assurance, simulation testing, and field trials to validate system performance and reliability.
• Act as the subject matter expert for HMI design, user experience, data handling, and device communication.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to align deliverables, milestones, and resources.
• Identify risks, create mitigation strategies, and ensure timely project completion.
• Provide technical recommendations on platform selection, architecture improvements, and future scalability.
• Stay current on emerging trends in automation and controls technology, proposing relevant innovations for product evolution.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
• Minimum 5 years of experience developing or leading HMI or PLC-based control system projects.
• Strong programming and software development background within automation and control environments.
• Deep understanding of industrial communication protocols and system integration.
• Experience with client-server architectures, UI development, and creating standard libraries and workflows.
• Strong documentation, project planning, and communication skills using MS Office or similar tools.
• Ability to manage multiple technical projects independently while maintaining delivery quality.
• Willingness to travel to operational or test sites as required.
• Physical ability to work safely in industrial environments and comply with PPE requirements.
This is a pivotal role for an engineer with strong technical depth in both software and control systems who wants to shape modern HMI design and deployment strategies across a complex industrial environment.
