About the Role
We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of a large-scale hyperscale data center project inSouth Bend, Indiana.
This position will play a key role in the testing, validation, and turnover of critical infrastructure systems, ensuring all equipment and systems operate in accordance with design intent, client requirements, and commissioning standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with construction teams, vendors, commissioning managers, and client representatives throughout the commissioning process from installation through final handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Support commissioning activities across critical mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
- Execute pre-functional and functional testing procedures.
- Review commissioning scripts, procedures, and testing documentation.
- Participate in system walkdowns, inspections, and punch list activities.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and project teams during commissioning activities.
- Assist with issue identification, troubleshooting, and resolution.
- Support integrated systems testing (IST) activities.
- Maintain accurate commissioning records, reports, and turnover documentation.
- Monitor commissioning progress and communicate updates to project leadership.
- Ensure all commissioning activities are completed safely and in accordance with project standards.
Required Experience
- Previous experience as a Commissioning Engineer within a data center or mission critical environment.
- Strong understanding of commissioning processes and project turnover requirements.
- Experience supporting mechanical, electrical, or controls systems commissioning.
- Ability to review and execute commissioning procedures and test scripts.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Experience
- Hyperscale data center project experience.
- Experience supporting clients such as Google, Meta, Microsoft, AWS, or other major operators.
- Knowledge of BMS, EPMS, SCADA, and critical facility infrastructure.
- Experience with chilled water systems, generators, UPS systems, switchgear, CRAH units, CRAC units, and cooling systems.
- Familiarity with integrated systems testing and operational readiness activities.
