Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of mission-critical data centre projects across the United States. This role involves ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, and control systems are installed, tested, and operate according to design intent, client requirements, and industry standards. You will play a key role in validating system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring operational readiness prior to handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute commissioning activities for data centre systems, including electrical (MV/LV), mechanical (HVAC, chilled water, CRAH/CRAC), and controls (BMS/EPMS).
• Develop, review, and implement commissioning plans, scripts, and procedures.
• Coordinate with design engineers, contractors, vendors, and client stakeholders throughout the commissioning process.
• Perform factory witness testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and integrated systems testing (IST).
• Identify, document, and track deficiencies through to resolution.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
• Support risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
• Provide technical reports, commissioning documentation, and final handover packages.
• Assist with training of operations personnel on commissioned systems.
• Travel to project sites as required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–8 years of experience in commissioning, preferably within data centres or mission-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, HVAC systems, and control systems.
• Familiarity with commissioning standards such as ASHRAE, CSA, or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
• Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50–75% depending on project requirements).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with hyperscale or colocation data centre projects.
• Knowledge of redundancy topologies (N, N 1, 2N, 2N 1).
• Certifications such as CxA, LEED, or similar commissioning credentials.
• Experience with mission-critical testing (black building, load bank testing, etc.).
