About The Role
We're seeking a Staff Engineer to take on key technical responsibilities in architecture and implementation. You'll be problem solving in all layers of the stack, from AWS to React, while guiding development of scalable, robust systems.
What You'll Do
- Lead the architectural design and implementation of critical backend systems on Node.js/AWS.
- Design and implement scalable, distributed systems that handle high volumes of educational data.
- Be an authority at every layer of the stack.
- Guide technical decisions for infrastructure, performance optimization, and security.
- Collaborate with product and leadership teams to translate business goals into technical roadmaps.
- Lead the implementation of effective engineering practices as the team grows.
- 8 years of experience in backend development with expertise in distributed systems.
- Strong experience with Node.js and AWS cloud infrastructure at scale.
- Deep understanding of system design and data modeling.
- Experience building high-performance, reliable systems from scratch.
- Experience working on systems that required high availability.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Experience with real-time data processing and analytics platforms.
- Experience at fast-growing startups moving from early stage to scale.
- Varied work experiences: in your career you've been infra-focused, product-focused, and full-stack.
- Technical versatility: You're primarily a backend engineer but recognize that code is code and are willing to dive into any part of the stack.
