Packer Position Job Responsibilities:
The list is a comprehensive list meant to represent the most common or important duties of the position. Other duties may be required and/or assigned.
- Read and interpret written work order to ensure type, quantity and quality of product, special instructions, etc.
- Pack finished products on running machines and place product into each case and acceptable pace that allows other operators to keep up with the injection molding press cycle time. Pace will be determined on product and production need.
- monitoring two (2) machines simultaneously.
- Visually monitor materials and products for defects.
- Select appropriate amount of product either by measuring, hand counting or counting done by stacker system.
- Visually inspect completed product for correctness in accordance with quality expectations for that specific product (color, bubbles, label correctness-both accuracy, and positioning) and other quality/product specifications.
- Assemble cartons by folding and closing with hand taper and/or tape machine.
- Move product using hand pallet jack or tow motor (if licensed, trained, and certified), and visually inspect for functionality and broken items.
- Perform housekeeping duties for workstations.
- Perform all duties as directed/assigned by Training Supervisor, Supervisor, Assistant Plant Manager, Plant Manager or Human Resource leadership.
- Comply with all safety rules, OSHA guidelines, GMP and PEE guidelines as well as any departmental/line specific work instructions and protocol.
- Comply with The Employee Handbook and all other Edge Plastics policies and protocols.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent education preferred but not required
- Minimum of six (6) months manufacturing experience
Required skills and abilities:
- Stand, bend, stretch for hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift between 37 and 50 lbs. repetitively.
- Must be able to stretch, reach and finished products over head (approx. six feet over head)
- Must be able to hand count via visual inspection.
- Read and comprehend written instructions and ensure instructions are met and achieved upon review of completed product. Must be able to properly record quality related concerns as they arise.
- Ability to be able to visually inspect finished product; view stress fractures, bubbles, color accuracy, and other quality metrics to ensure production and client metrics are met.
- Ability to communicate in professional tone and manner in both verbal and written means.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a collaborative team setting.
- Ability to multi-task with a high sense of urgency
