Responsibilities
- Set up and operate progressive and transfer presses, ensuring proper tooling and safety devices are in place before starting production.
- Monitor machine operation continuously, making adjustments to optimize speed, quality, and safety.
- Perform routine inspections of tooling, dies, and press components to identify wear or potential issues.
- Conduct quality checks using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions against blueprints and specifications.
- Maintain detailed production logs, shift reports, and inspection records to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Operate forklifts and cranes safely to transport raw materials or finished parts within the facility.
- Support the assembly process by ensuring parts meet quality standards before final assembly or shipment.
Experience
- Prior experience operating progressive or transfer presses in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading (GD&T) standards) and the use of precision measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and other quality inspection instruments.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tolerances.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication techniques including stamping presses, tooling setup, and sheet metal handling.
- Ability to read technical drawings accurately and interpret complex specifications for manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with safety protocols involving hand tools, tooling setup, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment is essential.
