Eden II Programs is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with autism throughout their lives. We provide a broad range of educational, residential, employment, and community-based services that empower individuals with autism to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Controller to join our finance team and help drive the organization’s mission forward.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Controller will oversee the financial operations of Eden II Programs and the Eden II/Genesis Foundation. This role is responsible for partnering in maintaining the integrity of all financial data and ensuring compliance with all regulatory, accounting, and auditing requirements. The Assistant Controller will work closely with senior leadership to support financial planning, reporting, and strategic decision-making. The Assistant Controller reports to the Controller and will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer. This position will be expected to:
- Lead month end closing process which includes the review and analysis of key income statements and balance sheet accounts.
- Enter monthly journal entries as it relates to personal and fringe benefits, fixed assets, expense accounts and pre-paid accounts.
- Partner with the accounts payable functions
- Partner with Treasury Manager to assist in cash flow forecasting and bank reconciliations.
- Partner with Payroll Manager to reconcile monthly payroll against budgets and forecasts as it relates to resource allocations.
- Ensure accurate and complete timesheet information for the purpose of resource allocations
- Enhance existing procedures to provide more efficiency and effectiveness to current systems and spreadsheets.
- Assist with annual budget and mid-year forecasting process.
- Support year-end financial audit.
- Recognize improvement opportunities, and identify and implement best practices in order to benefit the Organization’s needs and improve daily operations.
- Maintain a positive and supportive attitude in representing Eden II Programs and leading by example through hard work and commitment.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Intermediate to advanced excel skills.
- Experience with enterprise software
- Experience in Not-For-Profit a plus, but not required.
- Experience with OPWDD or NYSED preferred
- Must be an independent thinker and have the ability to identify problems and provide solutions.
- Must be organized, detail oriented and demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication skills in both written and verbal.

Salary Range:
$80,000 – $85,000 annually
