What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift position at EDCO PRODUCTS INCORPORATED?
The Production Supervisor is a key member of the EDCO Products Manufacturing team. This full-time, exempt position is based in Hopkins, MN and reports to the Production Manager. This is a 2nd shift position with normal working hours of 3:00 pm – 1:30 am, Monday-Thursday. This individual is responsible for closely managing and overseeing the daily set up and process of production operation. This individual is required to manage, train, and develop temporary and full-time labor, delegate daily production work and ensure quality. As a leader of EDCO’s Manufacturing team, you will be accountable for the success of your shift’s safety, quality and delivery performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Assume role of safety champion for team, ensuring that safety rules are followed and corrective measures are implemented to create a safer work environment
- Ensures all incidents, near misses and safety observations are reported correctly.
- Assume role of continuous improvement champion for the team, participating in daily continuous improvement activities and/or kaizen activity that drives improvement of safety, quality and delivery performance
- Maintains 5S standards across all work areas and equipment
- Execute daily production schedules and adjust and adapt to changes
- Drives attainment to plan while managing changeovers, downtime, and constraints
- Maintains control during breakdowns, shortages, and unexpected disruptions.
- Leads daily shift huddles to drive proactive and informative communication
- Conducts structured start of shift briefings and end of shift handoffs.
- Sets clear expectations for performance, behavior and defined standards.
- Collaborate with other supervisors, planners, engineering and maintenance to ensure alignment of 2nd shift team with manufacturing goals
- People leadership include hiring, coaching, disciplinary action, performance evaluation and individual goal setting to create a high functioning team
- Develops and monitors daily department and individual goals
- Troubleshoots and initiates resolutions to manufacturing problems

- Intermediate computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. ERP/MRP experience is desired
Qualifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing setting, ideally 5 years
- 2 or more years of supervisory experience preferred
- NetSuite or any ERP experience preferred
- Spanish is a plus
- Lean or 6-Sigma certification is a plus
Working Environment
- Industrial manufacturing environment with loud equipment, moving mechanical parts and very hot work areas.
- Individuals are regularly required to stand, walk, use steps, stoop and crouch. Must be able to occasionally lift 50 lbs. or more.
