Baghouse Helper

       I. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Employee works to ensure facility environmental compliance, primarily by operating/maintaining Air Pollution Control Equipment (APCE). The employee performs all tasks safely and in accordance with plant procedures. The employee works with department personnel and follows written or verbal instructions. The employee must be able to accurately and completely prepare all required documentation.

      II. PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS:

• Possess a valid US Driver’s License and be authorized to work in the United States
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working in an industrial environment.
• Computer Skills (MS Office package)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience driving heavy equipment.
• Able to perform physical labor.

      III. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operates controls, meters, gauges, blowers and all equipment associated with the processes. Performs minor repairs to such equipment and APCE system components.
• Collects and analyzes various samples along the process, observes variations in operating conditions and interprets instrument readings and test results to make necessary control adjustments to maintain a safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation.
• Maintains required reports, inspections, and logs. 
• Cleans baghouses, ducts, tubing, and other APCE items when necessary to ensure proper operation.
• Complies with National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPs), facility Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), applicable Plans and Forms.
• Assures that all spilled materials are contained and cleaned up to minimize spread until repairs are made.
• Operates mobile equipment including MC Cart, Forklift, and other equipment as required. 
• Reports missing or damaged signs, including environmental, safety, nameplates, POU, and any associated with lean manufacturing, and sees to it that they are replaced.  
• Notifies management if scheduled oncoming shift personnel do not arrive when it results in a gap in coverage.
• Understands internal customer/supplier relationships and how they impact the Baghouse and other departments in the facility. 
• Notifies management of impacts to Baghouse systems (e.g. Triboflow alarms) and downtime in a timely manner.
• Reports materials as they are used, to keep materials in stock. This includes spill cleanup supplies.
• Keeps work area neat, clean, free of debris and obstacles within all the concepts established by lean manufacturing principles.
• Identifies EH&S issues, resolves EH&S issues that are identified by the employee or other employees, and notifies supervisor of significant EH&S issues.

      IV. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.   The employee is required to talk, hear, climb and balance.  The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, in high precarious places, and with chemicals and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.  The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Employee must be able to wear PPE.
