I. Position Description
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the operation of the reverb and electric arc furnaces.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examines materials and products at various stages of processing for conformance to specifications.
- Observes machines and equipment for malfunction and requests adjustments or repairs.
- Reviews production schedules and estimates labor hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
- Communicates company policies to workers, enforces safety regulations, and conducts periodic safety meetings.
- Establishes or adjusts work assignments to meet production schedules.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and product quality.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
- Analyzes and assists in the resolution of work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Complies with all environmental, health, safety, and housekeeping programs.
- Other duties, as assigned.

- Ability to direct shift operations, conduct crew meetings and training.
- Leadership skills and self-motivation.
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills; written and verbal

- Job instructional training
- Quality system familiarization
- ISO 14001 awareness, EMS objectives and targets, significant environmental impacts of the furnace.

III. Physical Requirements & Work Environment
A. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
B. WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places; in outside weather conditions; and with explosives and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
