Food Service Area Supervisor

Position Summary: Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for Full-time Food Service Area Supervisor within Panther Dining. Panther Dining is a division within Student Affairs that operates two residential dining centers, a food court, Panther Catering, a C-Store (Thomas Marketplace) and a coffee shop (Java B&B). Serving the EIU community with high-quality, efficient, and innovative dining options in a variety of settings. We add value to our customers’ on-campus experience by providing welcoming and inclusive dining facilities, high-quality food, and experienced and professional staff who care about those they serve and enjoy the relationships they build. This position will be responsible for performing line supervisory duties in an area (or unit) within a food service department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervises operations of a specific food service area (such as dish room, cafeteria counter, fountain, or dining room).
• Supervises and assists in the preparation and service of food.
• Requisitions food and supplies.
• Assists with the training of employees.
• Assists with preparation of area work schedules and makes necessary routine adjustments.
• Promotes good customer relations.
• Promotes good safety and sanitation procedures.
• Assists with the development and practice of security regulations.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years (36 months) of food service work experience in an institutional or commercial setting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Supervisory ability.

Work Hours:

The core work hours of this position are 37.5 hours per week.

Salary/Pay Rate Range:

The starting pay wage is $20.50
