What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Controller position at EAGLEVILLE HOSPITAL?
Responsible for the following: Manage the Director of Finance (DF) and Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (DFP&A), and ensure the integrity of the financial statements, systems and control environment of the hospital; Ensure compliance with all audit, tax and financial reporting requirements: Provide the CFO and CEO with meaningful intelligence for decision making; Lead change management initiatives in conjunction with hospital and department objectives.
This position reports to the Company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Objectives/Responsibilities
- Manage the DF and DFP&A, and all responsibilities that fall under their purview.
- Ensure the integrity of the financial statements, systems and control environment, including the general ledger, payroll, accounts payable and budgeting areas.
- Cash and investment tracking and projection modeling.
- Draft board financial presentation materials.
- Ensure compliance with all internal and external audits and reporting requirements, including the 403(b) Savings and Retirement Plan and related Form 5500, Singe Audit, and XYZ Report.
- Ensure compliance with all tax related requirements, including Form 990 tax returns, payroll tax related items, and sales and use tax filings and escheats, if applicable.
- Main liaison with auditors for all audits and financial reports.
- Establish and maintain financial controls and overall control environment, including the creation of policies and procedures to safeguard the hospital’s assets.
- Establish and maintain documentation and workflows of financial systems and critical functions to ensure operational fluidity and coverage.
- Establish and maintain key performance indicators for the hospital and department, in conjunction with the CFO.
- Lead change management initiatives in conjunction with hospital and department objectives, and champion efforts to create efficiencies.
- Collaboration with the Director of Revenue, and assurance that all revenue, accounts receivable and related reserves are appropriate.
- Consult with CFO related to all new programs, facilities, entities, etc., and provide meaningful intelligence.
- Special projects as assigned by the CFO and CEO.
- Budget review and investigation in response to inquiries.
- Assist in planning the corporation’s financial operations and feasibility.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field.
- MBA or CPA preferred.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a senior financial/accounting position, preferably in a hospital/healthcare environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and ability to implement new accounting pronouncements and or complex transactions.
- Well versed in computerized ERP systems and the use of data, along with payroll and accounts payable functions, budgeting, creation of KPI’s, and must have advanced Excel skills.
- Change management experience.
- Nonprofit experience is a plus.
