EA Talent Solutions has been engaged by a well-established multi-job electrical contracting organization in Staten Island who is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial operations onsite. The right candidate brings construction accounting background and handles payroll, job-cost budgeting, and bank deposits with minimal oversight.
Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & accounts
- Maintain general ledger and process AP/AR across multiple active job sites
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards; prepare and process deposits
- Manage lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and subcontractor compliance documents
Payroll
- Run weekly or biweekly payroll for field crews and office staff
- Handle multi-rate and union pay structures; manage certified payroll where required
- File payroll tax deposits and quarterly/annual returns (941, 940, NYS-45)
Budgeting & job costing
- Set up and track job-cost budgets; flag variances for project managers
- Prepare monthly WIP schedules and project-level financial summaries
- Assist with annual budget preparation and cash flow forecasting
Reporting
- Generate monthly income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
- Maintain organized records for year-end reviews and CPA engagements
Qualifications:
Required
- 3 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally at least two in a construction or trade environment
- End-to-end payroll processing experience, including tax filings
- Hands-on job-cost budgeting and WIP reporting
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines accurately
Preferred
- Electrical or mechanical contracting background
- Union payroll and New York State prevailing wage experience
- Familiarity with Procore, Jonas, or Foundation
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
