The Vice President of Accounting and Finance will serve as a key operational leader. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this hands-on executive will oversee financial reporting, accounting, and analysis functions, ensuring robust internal controls, data integrity, and forward-looking financial management. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of leadership and construction accounting experience to drive process improvements across multiple operating departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, job cost, WIP reporting, and month-end close, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal control standards.
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis process across multiple divisions and departments.
- Document and maintain internal procedures and related controls.
- Coordinate external audits and bank compliance with the CFO and external partners.
- Oversee tax compliance for all federal, state, and local jurisdictions, including income, sales & use, property, and payroll-related filings, working with external advisors as needed.
- Partner with operations and project management to analyze job-level profitability, backlog, and cost drivers.
- Mentor and develop a team of accounting professionals, instilling a culture of consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support the CFO and executive team with insights for strategic decisions (e.g., M&A, joint ventures, plant/equipment investments, etc.).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 10–15 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
- Prior Big Four public accounting experience and/or construction experience preferred.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, job-costing, WIP, and consolidated financials. Proficiency with ERP systems (Viewpoint Vista or similar) and advanced Excel/BI tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and financial controls for manufacturing operations and inventory.
