Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic financial leader to oversee all financial operations of the organization. The ideal candidate will bring senior-level financial management experience within a public agency or a similarly sized organization, with a strong background in governmental accounting, budgeting, and compliance. This role is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and long-term fiscal sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and audits for an organization with a budget exceeding $100 million. Provide strategic financial guidance to executive leadership and support organizational decision-making through data-driven insights.
Oversee and mentor a finance department of approximately 30 staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ensure proper internal controls, policies, and procedures are in place and consistently followed.
Ensure compliance with all applicable governmental accounting standards and regulatory requirements, including coordination with auditors and adherence to Washington State Auditor requirements.
Develop and manage utility rate structures, including both retail and wholesale pricing models, in alignment with the organization's water and sewer service operations.
Qualifications
Extensive senior financial management experience (Controller, Finance Director, CFO) within a public agency or similarly complex organization.
Demonstrated experience managing large-scale budgets of $100 million or more.
Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams of 25-30 staff.
Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles, audits, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Experience with utility rate modeling, including both retail and wholesale structures, is highly preferred.
