We are seeking a CNC Lathe Operator to support production operations by setting up and operating CNC lathes in accordance with specifications and quality requirements.
Job Overview
The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC single or multi-spindle lathes to perform drilling, boring, reaming, milling, and tapping operations. This role ensures parts are produced to specification, within tolerance, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC single or multi-spindle lathes according to work orders, samples, and instructions.
- Load bar feeders or manually load bar stock and castings; load, align, and unload parts in fixtures.
- Monitor machine operations and readouts to ensure proper equipment performance.
- Make tooling adjustments as required to maintain specified tolerances.
- Assist lower-level operators with machine adjustments as needed.
- Inspect finished parts for proper dimensions and surface finish using electronic and manual precision measuring instruments.
- Submit specified parts for inspection and complete required inspection and production documentation.
- Blow off, wipe, stack, and package completed parts.
- Replace, reset, and sharpen tools as necessary.
- Check and refill coolants and machine fluids as required.
- Move completed product to designated areas by the end of the shift.
- Follow all safety rules and maintain a clean and orderly work area using 5S practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 4 years of CNC lathe operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, instructions, and mechanical drawings.
- Basic shop math skills.
- Experience using electronic and manual precision measuring instruments.
- Strong teamwork and problem‑solving skills.
Problem Solving & Cognitive Requirements
- Ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noise.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, noxious odors, mists, gases, and poor ventilation.
- Must be able to exert 20–50 lbs occasionally and 10–25 lbs frequently.
- PPE required.
