Position: Principal Autonomous Systems Engiineer
Location: Irvine, CA - On-site Required
Position Description
The GNC Engineer in this position will be responsible for a wide gamut of GNC engineering tasks including vehicle design, payload integration, structural modifications, mechanism design, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and be able to work well both on an individual basis and in a team environment. The candidate must be able to function and communicate in an interdisciplinary team (Aero, Electrical, Software, etc.).

Salary: $125,000.00 - $180,000.00 annually
Salary depends on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of salary or annual bonus.

Position: Principal Autonomous Systems Engiineer

Position Description
The GNC Engineer in this position will be responsible for a wide gamut of GNC engineering tasks including vehicle design, payload integration, structural modifications, mechanism design, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and be able to work well both on an individual basis and in a team environment. The candidate must be able to function and communicate in an interdisciplinary team (Aero, Electrical, Software, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Design and tune closed-loop control laws for small UAS and missile platforms
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated aircraft systems
- Conduct system-level performance analyses, including modeling and trade studies to inform design and integration
- Develop and support simulation frameworks for missile performance evaluation and Monte Carlo analysis
- Mentor and support junior engineers to help build team capabilities and program execution efficiency
- Leverage test data to evaluate and refine flight control performance
- Implement and optimize off-the-shelf autopilots in novel or unconventional aircraft configurations
- Strong experience developing and tuning control laws for aircraft and missile systems
- Hands-on experience integrating off-the-shelf autopilot systems into custom airframes
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C/C , and/or object-oriented programming for modeling and control implementation
- Experience using flight test data to validate and improve controller performance
- Strong understanding of simulation-based analysis, including Monte Carlo techniques and statistical evaluation of dynamic systems
- Background in guidance and navigation algorithm development
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and control implementation on embedded systems
- Familiarity with sensor fusion, GNSS/INS integration, or related estimation techniques
- Knowledge of defense or aerospace safety and compliance standards
- Integration of a seeker system and development of closed Loop seeker control
- Strong listening, questioning, clarifying and summarizing skills to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings
- A willingness to travel on occasions
- Bachelor’s in robotics, aerospace, autonomous systems or relevant engineering
- 5 years professional experience as airborne systems GNC Engineer

- Must have the ability to stand, climb, occasionally lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
- Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine
- Involves movement between departments, floors, and worksites to facilitate work.
- May be performing physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors
