Controls Sales Engineer(Outside Sales)

Role Description The Controls Sales Engineer (Outside Sales) is a full-time, on-site role based in Centennial, CO. This position is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing existing accounts, and promoting DCI’s integrated building management and controls solutions to contractors, building owners, and facility managers. Day-to-day activities include meeting with clients, conducting site visits, preparing and presenting proposals and bids, and providing technical sales support to ensure solutions align with customer requirements. The role involves collaborating with engineering and project teams to develop system designs, budgets, and timelines, as well as tracking opportunities in a CRM and achieving defined sales targets. The Controls Sales Engineer also participates in industry events, stays informed on product updates and market trends, and represents DCI in a professional, consultative manner.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in outside sales, preferably in building automation, HVAC controls, electrical systems, or related technical fields.
• Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and explain integrated building management, lighting control, and security systems.
• Proficiency in consultative selling, opportunity qualification, proposal development, and contract negotiation.
• Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers, partners, and internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple opportunities, prioritize tasks, and meet or exceed sales goals within defined timeframes.
• Comfort with using CRM tools, standard office software, and basic project documentation and reporting practices.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally for client visits, site assessments, and industry events.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Prior experience working with Schneider Electric or similar building controls platforms is beneficial.
