We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Director of Accounting to lead key initiatives in our IPO readiness journey. This role will be instrumental in building scalable accounting processes, driving technical accounting compliance, and coordinating closely with external advisors, including EY, to prepare audited financial statements and support tax-related matters.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in technical accounting (US GAAP), financial reporting, and audit leadership, particularly within pre-IPO or public company environments.
IPO Readiness & Financial Reporting
- Lead accounting workstreams for IPO readiness, including preparation of SEC-ready financial statements
- Coordinate closely with external auditors (EY) on financial statement preparation, audit timelines, and deliverables
- Support PCAOB audit readiness, including documentation and remediation of gaps
- Assist in drafting disclosures, footnotes, and accounting memos for SEC filings (S-1, etc.)
- Research, document, and implement technical accounting positions under US GAAP (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 805, ASC 718, ASC 340-40)
- Prepare and review technical accounting memos for complex transactions
- Ensure alignment of accounting policies with public company standards and regulatory requirements
- Design, document, and implement scalable accounting processes to support a public company environment
- Strengthen and formalize internal controls in alignment with SOX requirements
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve close processes, reconciliations, and reporting accuracy
- Serve as primary liaison with external auditors (EY) and other advisors
- Coordinate with tax advisors on provision, compliance, and structuring matters
- Collaborate with FP&A, legal, and operations teams to ensure alignment on financial reporting impacts
- Lead and mentor accounting team members through IPO readiness transformation
- Drive project management of key initiatives, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative environment across stakeholders
Qualifications - Required
- CPA designation
- 5 years of experience in accounting, audit, or financial reporting at a Big 4 or 7-10 years of experience in a smaller public accounting firm
- Strong technical accounting expertise under US GAAP
- Experience with IPO readiness, SEC reporting, or public company audits
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional teams
- Deep understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
- Background in Big 4 or large public accounting firms
- Experience working with technology, manufacturing, or high-growth companies
- Prior involvement in pre-IPO or public company environments
- Exposure to IFRS is a plus
- Technical accounting expertise (ASC 606, 805, 718, etc.)
- Financial statement preparation & audit coordination
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Effective communication with executives, auditors, and advisors
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
