The overall objective of the Production Manager position is to ensure operational excellence by directing the Production Department through allocating manpower and resources, maintaining project schedules, and focusing on core operational processes. Job Description
The Production Department is responsible for the delivery of quality Mission Critical Group products in a timely manner to support our efforts of being a best-in-class manufacturer. The overall objective of the Production Manager position is to ensure operational excellence by directing the Production Department through allocating manpower and resources, maintaining project schedules, and focusing on core operational processes. Consistent and accurate representation of the Mission Critical Group brand, mission, vision, values, and organizational strategy are essential to achieving the goals of the organization.
Accountabilities
- Drive operational output by managing the assembly and production cycle through material and resource planning, monitoring of project schedules, reporting, and providing leadership to direct reports.
- Identify and implement work procedures and improvements by applying lean manufacturing concepts to reduce man‐hours, increase productivity, positively impact on‐time shipments to clients, decrease operational costs and contribute to superior quality of products.
- Continually drive quality and decrease production costs by working collaboratively with the Manufacturing Manager on the implementation of lean manufacturing techniques.
- Utilize best practices for workforce planning and forecasting for present and future manpower allocations and assist with hiring decisions within the department.
- Develop initiative and project proposals that improve production costs, product quality, employee safety, and process efficiencies.
- Work closely with other Manufacturing personnel and the Engineering Department to adjust schedules based on client needs and manpower resources.
- Communicate performance expectations, tasks, and project modifications to direct reports to ensure they are high performing and engaged.
- Ensure a safe workplace for all personnel and visitors to the Manufacturing floor through strict adherence to 5S safety standards as well as all OSHA and EPA requirements.
- Manage foreman responsibilities to ensure they are contributing 80% of their time to directly adding value to jobs.
- Execute and monitor the manufacturing cross training program to ensure successful development and growth of manufacturing personnel in partnership with the Fabrication Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge / Experience
- 6 years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory role, preferably in a shop or similar manufacturing environment, with a focus on process improvement.
- Intrapersonal Skills: Self‐motivated and able to identify, examine, and resolve issues independently from others. Hold a strong regard for guidelines, procedures and integrity.
- Administration and Management: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Engineering and Technology: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Management of Personnel Resources: Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
- Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming such as Microsoft Office Business Suite.
- Verbal & Written Communication Skills: This position requires basic skills (Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.)
- Math Skills: This position requires basic math skills.
- Directly manages, coaches, and develops a team of 7 direct reports, with 25-40 indirect reports
- Performs supervisory responsibilities by managing and allocating employee resources in accordance with company policies, applicable laws, and company initiatives/goals.
- Responsibilities include developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work (including scheduling); appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Acts as a change agent and develops a high‐performing team in the spirit of exceptional service to all internal and external partners.
- Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related studies.
- Certification in continuous improvement methods, such as an ASQ certification in Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma.
- 3 years of experience in the oil and gas, energy, and/or marine markets.
- High School Diploma/GED required.

- FLSA executive and professional positions paid on a salary basis, where project requirements and tight client deadlines may require workweeks over forty (40) hours (including weekends or holidays)
- This role will work on the production floor are required to oversee operations, ensure compliance and safety standards, and engage staff.
- Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
- Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to fifty (50) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards.
- Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
