Competencies
- New York State Cosmetology License. *(In addition-Barbering License if applicable)
- Eligibility for or possession of appropriate New York State Career and Technical Education Teaching Certification.
- Minimum of four years of recent, full-time industry experience in cosmetology.
- Strong knowledge of current beauty trends, techniques, products, and safety regulations.
- Experience mentoring, supervising, or training others is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in all areas of cosmetology.
- Provide hands-on laboratory experiences in a salon-like learning environment.
- Prepare students for the New York State Cosmetology Licensing Examination.
- Integrate employability skills, customer service, communication, and professionalism into daily instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Assess student performance through practical demonstrations, written assessments, and competency-based evaluations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized instructional salon that models industry standards.
- Build partnerships with local salons, spas, beauty professionals, and community organizations to support internships, work-based learning, guest speakers, and career opportunities.
- Participate in curriculum development, professional learning, and school initiatives.
- Maintain accurate student records and communicate regularly with families and district partners.
