JOB SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, the Security Officer provides security and protection of work site(s), personnel and assets at the assigned job site. Enforces safety measures, performs regular patrols of assigned premises, and responds to incidents based on established operational procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s Must have reliable transportation to/from the work site.
- Military, law enforcement, or security experience preferred, but not
- State Unarmed Security Officer License or able to obtain.
- Able to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English
- Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively.
- As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of two years of experience in law enforcement, military police, corrections, or private security company within the past five years. Military experience in an applicable specialty may be substituted for law enforcement experience
- Experience working in a refinery or plant
- Experience working in the oil and gas industry
- Certified in First Aid & CPR, refinery safety standards

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide customer service to the client by carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Understand and successfully execute post orders including enforcement of client and company policies, rules and regulations.
- May perform access control functions and verify individuals are authorized to enter the facility
- Process visitors and produce access badges.
- Operate gate traffic barriers to prevent unauthorized entry of vehicles
- Conduct screening/searches of vehicles and persons entering and exiting the facility.
- Monitor traffic and parking areas.
- Guard property against damage, fire, theft, and illegal or unauthorized entry.
- Conduct regular and random patrols (by foot or vehicle) of buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to ensure that they are properly secured.
- Display courteous, respectful and professional interactions with the public and customers.
- May operate and monitor CCTV equipment if appropriately trained and assigned.
- May be asked to perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
- Effectively and coherently communicate using a two-way radio or telephone.
- Interview people to detect infringements and to investigate disturbances, complaints, thefts, vandalism and accidents or incidents. Report irregularities to management.
- Write Daily Activity Reports and/or Incident Reports
- May assist management and law enforcement officials in emergency situations.
- Maintain high standards for work areas and appearance.
- Must comply with established dress code/uniform requirements.
- Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner.
- Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professionalism.
- Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety and operational procedures.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The employee will be required to work at the client’s job site and may be assigned to confined workspaces such as a security guard post, security gate, or patrol vehicles for extended periods of time and exposure to work assignments consisting of twelve-hour days and able to work day or night shifts as required. The majority of the work is performed in an industrial setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee’s work requires routine sitting, walking, standing, bending, and occasionally carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to visually monitor multiple screens simultaneously. Ability to respond quickly to emergencies. Candidate/incumbent will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical.
