Engineering Technician
Position Overview
The role of the Engineering technician is to support both product design and production processes through the creation of accurate 2D drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation using Autodesk Inventor and Vault Professional. Ensure clear communication of design intent, resolving production challenges, and supporting the continuous improvement of both standard and custom-built trailer products. Assist in developing owner’s manuals, managing part numbers, and maintaining our engineering file structure and documentation standards.

Core Responsibilities
- Develop clear and accurate 2D drawings, 3D models, and exploded views using Autodesk Inventor, supporting both product and process documentation needs
- Create and maintain owner’s manual content, including illustrations and documentation derived from engineering models.
- Collaborate closely with design engineers to translate conceptual designs into production-ready drawing packages that align with Duo Lift standards.
- Act as a liaison between the manufacturing floor and the engineering team by attending regular production meetings, helping to identify, communicate, and resolve design and process issues that arise during fabrication and assembly.
- Support Research & Development efforts by assisting with design iterations, prototype documentation, and product updates.
- Maintain a well-organized file structure within Autodesk Vault Professional, ensuring consistent naming conventions, version control, and traceability of engineering data.
- Assist in the creation and tracking of part numbers, BOM updates, and technical documentation to support accurate inventory and production planning.
- Participate in drawing reviews and manufacturability assessments to reduce errors and streamline fabrication processes.
- Troubleshoot design and assembly issues with a hands-on, mechanically inclined approach, offering solutions that balance design intent and practical application.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements and standardization efforts within the engineering department.
- Provide backup support for laser programming and nesting operations as needed; prior experience with nesting software is a plus and will be utilized when applicable.
Organizational Structure:
- Reports to Engineering Manager
Qualifications
- Experience: 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or drafting role preferred, especially with exposure to production processes and technical documentation.
- Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault Professional is strongly preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to learn and adapt quickly to engineering software and file management systems.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical reasoning and practical problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and create detailed technical drawings and assemblies.
- Communication: Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills. Must be comfortable interacting with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and management.
- Initiative & Accountability: A self-starter who can manage time effectively, follow through on assignments, and contribute proactively to the success of the team.
- Team Player: Willingness to collaborate and provide support where needed, while also being comfortable working independently.
- Continuous Improvement: Eagerness to learn new tools, grow in technical ability, and contribute ideas that improve processes and product outcomes.
Compensation & Benefits
- Full-time position (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday)
- Limited after-hours work as needed
