Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments with precision and care
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with aseptic techniques
- Take high-quality X-rays and utilize advanced medical imaging tools such as 3D scanners to aid in accurate diagnoses
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Perform chairside assisting by providing vital signs monitoring and supporting four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-operative care, and oral health practices using clear dental terminology
- Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures and knowledge of anatomy to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting with experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments
- Strong knowledge of EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for accurate medical documentation and records management
- Skilled in taking X-rays, utilizing 3D scanners, and performing medical imaging with attention to detail
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient information at all times
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and support medical documentation processes including medical coding when necessary
- Expertise in infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to uphold the highest safety standards
- Excellent understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and various dental specialties including prosthodontics and endodontics
- Effective communication skills as a dental receptionist when coordinating appointments and managing patient flow
- Experience with medical records management and familiarity with electronic health record platforms such as Dentrix or Epic
