Duties
- Perform a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures including X-ray, CT (Computed Tomography), PET scans (Positron Emission Tomography), mammography, DEXA scans (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry), sonography, and nuclear medicine techniques.
- Ensure all imaging is conducted with strict adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to facilitate diagnostic evaluations, interpret imaging results, and assist in emergency medicine scenarios within Level I Trauma Center settings.
- Operate complex imaging equipment accurately while maintaining high standards of image quality for diagnostic purposes.
- Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards and confidentiality regulations.
- Assist in patient positioning, preparation, and education to ensure comfort and understanding during procedures.
- Stay current with advancements in diagnostic radiology and participate in ongoing training related to physiology knowledge, anatomy, and new imaging technologies.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of medical imaging modalities including X-ray, CT, PET scan, mammography, DEXA scan, sonography, and nuclear medicine procedures.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology essential for accurate image acquisition and interpretation.
- Proven experience working in urgent care settings, emergency rooms, or Level II trauma centers with familiarity in emergency medicine protocols.
- Ability to operate sophisticated imaging equipment safely while adhering to aseptic techniques and radiation safety standards.
- Excellent diagnostic evaluation skills with the ability to identify abnormalities quickly and accurately.
- Experience with diagnostic radiology workflows within Level I Trauma Centers is highly desirable.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and explaining procedures to patients clearly.
