Position Overview

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for supervising and performing Laboratory Services functions as assigned by management. The supervisor assists and supports management in ensuring that all laboratory analyses associated with remediation or other programs are performed in an accurate, timely, and fully compliant manner. The specific work assignment may include supervising and executing duties in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:

Functional:

 

• Directs day-to-day laboratory operations, including staffing levels, work schedules, and task prioritization to satisfy budget and contract requirements.
• Provides leadership, training, and performance evaluations for laboratory technicians while establishing clear operational expectations.
• Fosters a collaborative team environment and maintains positive employee relations to support high group performance and morale.
• Oversees complex analytical laboratory methods and ensures the proper maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
• Enforces safety policies and procedures, ensuring the safe work habits and physical safety of all supervised laboratory personnel.
• Ensures all laboratory testing and daily operations comply with regulatory requirements, project policies, and quality standards.
• Reviews, compiles, and analyzes analytical data to monitor equipment efficiency and report deviations from established standards.
• Coordinates the development, review, and optimization of laboratory plans, standard operating procedures, and technical specifications.
• Manages laboratory inventory, equipment procurement, and supply logistics to ensure uninterrupted operational capabilities.
• Serves as the primary operational point of contact and liaison for senior management, external groups, and regulatory auditors.
• Leads special research projects, interprets test results, and integrates new analytical technologies to resolve process challenges.
• Prepares technical reports, delivers operational presentations to leadership, and actively participates in Safety Work Groups.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related science field required.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) credential.
