Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier/Customer Service Associate to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, handling transactions accurately, and maintaining a welcoming shopping environment. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, basic math proficiency, and experience in retail or grocery store settings. This position offers an opportunity to develop sales skills, assist customers with product demos, and contribute to a positive shopping experience.
Duties
- Operate POS systems efficiently to process transactions including cash handling and credit card payments
- Greet customers warmly and provide exceptional customer service
- Assist customers with product inquiries, upselling items, and product demos when appropriate
- Maintain merchandising standards by stocking shelves and organizing displays
- Ensure the sales floor is clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout the shift
- Manage inventory levels and communicate stock shortages to management
- Handle phone inquiries professionally following proper phone etiquette
- Supervise or assist in supervising team members as needed
- Support sales goals through suggestive selling and promoting store promotions
- Assist with cashiering duties during busy periods or when needed
Requirements
- Previous experience in retail sales, grocery store, or cashiering roles preferred
- Strong communication skills and friendly demeanor
- Basic math skills for cash handling and retail math calculations
- Proficiency with POS systems and cashiering procedures
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual skills are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
- Supervising experience is desirable but not mandatory
- Ability to demonstrate products and perform product demos when required
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends if necessary
