As an Aerospace Field Applications Engineer, you will work in the area of HIL Simulation for the testing of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) in Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, Off-Highway, and other industrial applications. You will be part of a team-oriented environment, involved in developing and applying dSPACE HIL simulation technology for the most exciting and cutting-edge control domains.


Responsibilities:

  • Testing and commissioning of dSPACE HIL Simulators in both Open and Closed-Loop scenarios
  • Expansion, modeling and minor modifications to delivered systems according to customer requirements
  • Specialized support of HIL systems and models, including onsite at aerospace & defense customers
  • Close cooperation with the specialist departments in Wixom, Michigan and Paderborn, Germany
  • Implementation of vehicle networks including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet
  • Design, configuration, and application of dSPACE HIL simulator software for customer’s ECU testing needs


Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science/Software Engineering, or related experience
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas is desired:
  • Development, testing, or familiarity of embedded control systems (mechatronics, automotive control systems)
  • HIL simulation systems
  • In-vehicle communication networks such as CAN, LIN, FlexRay
  • Model-based development with MATLAB® and Simulink®
  • Programming in C, C , Python, or other comparable languages
  • Understanding of aerospace bus architecture including communication protocols and integration with onboard avionics, navigation, and power systems (i.e. ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, etc.)
  • Aware of FAR/DFARS and CMMC compliance requirements, ensuring project deliverables align with regulatory standards, meet defense industry benchmarks for quality, security, and operational performance, and incorporate cybersecurity measures to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) in accordance with DoD guidelines.
