We are supporting a leader in the Electrical Construction space on their search for a Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement activities for electrical materials, equipment, and services, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing to support project execution and operational excellence. This role drives supplier strategy, negotiates high-value contracts, and manages inventory control while collaborating with project managers and field teams to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards.
Alternate Locations include MD, MI, KY, OH, and PA
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Procurement: Develop and implement purchasing strategies for electrical components, tools, and services to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Procurement Alignment: Aligning the Procurement processes and procedures across multiple locations in the first centralized Procurement function.
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with key suppliers and distributors, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Budget & Cost Control: Manage purchasing budgets, monitor spend, and deliver cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or project timelines.
- Inventory Oversight: Maintain accurate inventory levels for standard electrical materials, preventing shortages or excess stock and ensuring readiness for project needs.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to forecast material requirements, align procurement schedules, and resolve supply issues promptly.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and contractual obligations; maintain accurate purchasing records and reporting.
- Market Analysis: Monitor industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new technologies to inform purchasing decisions and maintain competitive advantage.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor purchasing staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5 years of procurement or purchasing management within electrical contracting or construction industries (data center experience preferred).
- Skills: Strong negotiation, leadership, and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with electrical materials, codes, and specifications; proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field; professional certifications (e.g., CPP, CPSM) preferred.
