Application Engineer

Our partner is seeking an Application Engineer I to support product platforms and engineering teams by providing technical sales support and customized system design solutions. This role focuses on translating customer requirements into manufacturable designs, supporting proposal development, and ensuring solutions meet performance and regulatory standards.

The Application Engineer collaborates closely with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to develop and verify product designs, support engineering changes, and assist with implementation and commissioning activities. This role plays a key part in delivering customer-focused solutions while maintaining quality and operational alignment.

• Review and interpret customer and sales-provided specifications to align product capabilities with application requirements
• Develop detailed drawings, layouts, and schematics using CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD/Draftsight)
• Design and refine customized product solutions that meet performance and manufacturability criteria
• Analyze system and product specifications to ensure designs can be produced using existing processes and equipment
• Support and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and contribute to corrective action initiatives
• Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to conduct design reviews and resolve technical challenges
• Provide engineering support to shop floor operations, including troubleshooting and implementation guidance
• Assist with testing, validation, and commissioning activities, including on-site support when required
• Interpret and apply applicable industry codes and standards (e.g., UL, NEC, NFPA)
• Initiate and document test requests, analyze results, and implement design improvements
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and identify opportunities to reduce errors and improve design processes
• Build technical expertise in assigned product areas and support continuous improvement initiatives
  
  

• Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, Engineering Technology, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
• 3-5 years of experience in application engineering, design engineering, or a similar technical role
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2018 or newer) and SolidWorks
• Working knowledge of industrial or commercial mechanical/electrical systems (mobile electrification experience preferred)
• Strong ability to interpret technical specifications and develop practical design solutions
• Experience supporting engineering changes, product development, or design-for-manufacture initiatives
• Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards (UL, NEC, NFPA) preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
• Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site support and commissioning activities
