The SLCT Supervisor at State and Lake Chicago Tavern supports daily front-of-house operations to ensure warm, engaging, and polished service consistent with theWit Hotel’s hospitality standards. This role partners closely with restaurant leadership to lead the service team, uphold brand standards, and create a welcoming environment for guests and team members alike.
Position Summary
The SLCT Supervisor assists with the coordination of host, server, bar, and support staff to deliver a seamless dining experience during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events. The person in this role leads by example on the floor, supports training and coaching, and serves as a primary point of contact for guest concerns and service recovery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise daily front-of-house operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and guest-focused service throughout all meal periods.

Lead pre-shift meetings to communicate daily specials, reservations, large parties, promotions, and service priorities.

Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of new front-of-house team members, reinforcing service standards, steps of service, and safety procedures.

Monitor staff performance on the floor, provide in-the-moment coaching and feedback, and support performance management in partnership with restaurant leadership.

Assist with scheduling, section assignments, station rotations, and break compliance to meet business levels and labor targets.

Greet guests, assist the host team during peak times, and maintain an active presence in the dining room and bar area.

Respond to guest feedback and service issues promptly and professionally, resolving concerns and escalating when appropriate.

Ensure proper opening, running, and closing procedures are followed, including side work, cleanliness, and setup/breakdown of the dining room and bar.

Oversee adherence to cash-handling, check control, and POS procedures; assist with comps, voids, and end-of-shift reports as directed.

Support beverage and menu knowledge by staying current on offerings, ingredients, and pairings; ensure the team can confidently describe and upsell items.

Maintain compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards, including proper food handling, allergen awareness, and cleanliness.

Qualifications

Previous restaurant supervisory or lead server/lead host experience in a full-service, high-volume restaurant or hotel environment required.

Strong knowledge of front-of-house operations, guest service standards, and basic food and beverage service techniques.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and support a diverse team.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, stay calm under pressure, and exercise sound judgment in guest-facing situations.

Proficiency with POS systems, basic reporting, and standard office applications; ability to learn property-specific systems.

Availability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
Physical Requirements
